At the First Light Service there is a table of quiet activities, Children's books, and coloring pages at the rear of the gym. In the Traditional Service children may use our "Pew Packs" which have books, quiet games, and soft toys for our younger worshippers. In the traditional Service there is a special Children's Message geared for our youngest members. Click here for more information Nursery Care - Nursery Care is available all morning on Sundays 9:00-11:30 a.m. for Infants and Toddlers. Our cheerful nursery is staffed by caring and gentle volunteers. Children & Worship - Children & Worship is a special worship experience for children ages 3- 8. Children & Worship prepares children for worshipping God by worshipping God in child appropriate ways. This program involves hearing the word, exploring the stories, and sharing the feast. Children & Worship is held during the First Light Service in room 225 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Click here for more information. Sunday School 10:30-11:45 a.m. - is offered during the traditional service. Children & Youth (Pre-school - Sr.High) begin by worshipping with their families in the sanctuary. Following the "Passing of the Peace" the children and youth leave to attend Sunday School. The Sunday School curriculum is called "Workshop Rotation", an education program for children in first through 5th grades that allows children to experience the Bible through stories, art, drama, games, and more. The WO.R.D. is Here! - What is WO.R.D.? You ask -WO.R.D. stands for Workshop Rotation Design. We are on our second year with Workshop Rotation, an exciting curriculum Sunday school education program for children in 1st through 5th grades that allows children to experience the Bible through stories, art, drama, games, science, cooking and more. We do a unit every 4-6 weeks, and children rotate each week between different workshops. This year our units are: "Creation, Gods work in progress" , "Joshua - Character Counts", "Christ Revealed - Christmas seen through the symbols", "Ruth - Loyal Living", "Resurrection to Pentecost", "Parables and stories of Jesus" and "The New Church - feed my sheep Peter". Click for more information. The success of Workshop Rotation depends upon the level of involvement from the congregation. The more the people volunteer their time and talents, the more exciting and meaningful the curriculum becomes for our youth. And what better way to bring the many generations of our congregation closer through such an energetic mission! We are only looking for a 2-week commitment at a time, either as a teacher or a helper in the classroom. You would teach the same workshop 2 weeks in a row - once to the younger kids grades 1 and 2 and once to the older kids grades 3, 4 and 5. Please contact Pam Nash, Director of Christian Education if you are interested in volunteering. "Wednesday Night Live" - On Wednesday evenings throughout the school year, we offer a Wednesday Night Live program to kids ages 3 through 6th grade from 5:30 to 7:45. We start at 5:30 with recreation and offer a free will offering dinner at 6:00. We will end the evening at 7:45. We have music and Bible time after dinner. Our program again this year is "Patch the Pirate". It is better than ever, with New Music, New lesson plans and New crafts. The Patch club is a well rounded weekly program that emphasizes Godly principles of living. Each weekly lesson focuses on a new Godly character trait, reinforced with stories, songs and activities. Junior & Senior High Youth Groups ("Wednesday Night Live") - The exciting news this year is we will be starting a youth group at the same time as "Wednesday Night Live" for grades 6-8 (Junior Highs) and 9-12 (Senior Highs). They will get to do fun service projects, have trips outside the church such as bowling and have some great fellowship as well. (Click here for printable Permission Slip) The best part is we can all start our evening off with a dinner together. If you have any questions please contact Pam Nash or Susanna Schwab. Multi-age Summer Sunday School for Preschoolers to 4th Grade will meet at 10:45 a.m. in the air-conditioned multipurpose room, on the lower level, next to the library. Children will attend the first portion of worship and then we will leave together for our class. Children 4th Grade and above will remain in Worship. Infants and Toddlers will be cared for in the Nursery on the lower level. Sunday School for Junior Highs - The Junior High focus on discussions of topical interest to teens. Sunday School for Senior Highs - The Senior High group is available for youth in the 9th through 12th grades, focus on fun, fellowship, and mission projects. Acolytes - Acolytes are youth from grade 5 through high school, who light candles for the Traditional Worship service at 10:30 a.m. once a month. They also volunteer to light candles on special holiday services and at weddings. Training sessions are provided. Please contact the Church Office, 440-885-2652; if you are interested. Confirmation classes - Confirmation classes are offered each year to youth in the 9th grade. Confirmation classes are taught by the Pastor. Each confirmand receives a mentor to walk with him/her on this portion of their faith journey. At the completion of the class, each youth will be invited to make a decision to join the church. Confirmation classes meet weekly. Vacation Bible School - Vacation Bible School is held once a year, usually planned for four nights - during the month of August. VBS is designed to be inter-generational and is open to children and adults of all ages. Parma-South Scout Troops - We have various Scout Troops available to join who meet at Parma-South.
