Care Ministries
Just as Jesus Christ came "not to be ministered unto, but to minister..." we accept our responsibility to reach out in service to others. This applies both within the church family and outside our fellowship. Join us as we minister to others.
The Order of Saint Andrew is to provide a sense of welcome between visitors to Parma-South and our church family. It is made up of church members who visit first time visitors to the church, usually the same Sunday if we are provided with the visitor's phone number and address. They deliver greetings from the congregation, information about the church and church activities. They also offer an invitation to return and visit again. Alice Werner the Coordinator of the Order of Saint Andrew and Fran Marvel is the 1st Secretary and Ruby Alford is the 2nd Secretary. For more information contact the church office at 440-885-2652.
Baptism Instruction Classes are taught at Parma-South on the 1st Saturday of the month. Baptism is scheduled for the 2nd Sunday of each month. Contact the Church office at 440-885-2652 for registration and times.
The Parish Nurse Support Team is a group of parishioners who have been called to carry out their Christian faith by offering caring support to parishioners in need. This support may be in the form of providing transportation to the doctor or to the grocery store. It may be sitting with a parishioner in their home or nursing home bedside and listening. It may be helping to do seasonal yard work such as raking the leaves or performing spring clean-up. The parish nurse meets monthly with this dedicated group of people. Intercessory Prayer Group meets every Tuesday at 10:00am in the church dining room to lift up in prayer the names of people who have special concerns (which are kept confidential). Cards in the pews are available for people to make prayer requests. Also, calls made to the church office, 440-885-2652, will be relayed to the Prayer Group. Those for whom the group prays receive a card informing them of the prayers being offered in their behalf.
Mission Guild works on various craft projects for the Church and the community. We also participate in the annual Parma-South Craft Show. ALL women are welcomed to become a part of this group. We meet in the Dining Room from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm the 3rd Wednesday of the month from March through December. The group has lunch together after we complete our craft projects for the day. Parma-South Quilters make baby quilts for Friends of Mothers and Infants at MetroHealth Center. This hospital-associated organization provides layettes for low-income mothers and babies. We hope to make a dent in the 4000 quilts needed each year. Members and non-members are making 42 inch square quilt tops. The quilters meet in the Multipurpose Room of the church on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to Noon to assemble the quilts, completing these by machine quilting. Parish Nurse, Linda McCowen RN, offers health screening, health education, health referral information, and bereavement support. She also visits persons who are hospitalized, who are in nursing homes or are homebound. She leads the twice weekly senior exercise class and invites all seniors to join us in the gym on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9am. The class focuses on strengthening, flexibility, endurance and balance. Anyone who is struggling with grief issues is invited to join us in the parlor on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 1pm for our bereavement support group. She attends worship and offers BP or other health screening once each month, generally on the 4th Sunday.

She is in the office on Mondays from about 8:30am through 2:30pm and on Wednesdays from 8:30am until 10am. She also makes visits so although she may not be in the office when you call or stop by, she does want to see you so please leave a message or call before you stop by to see her. Calling and visitation is available upon request, as well as response to emergencies.
